We’re working with a leading organisation in the defence and maritime sector who are looking for a Financial Controller to join their team.

This newly created role will take full ownership of day-to-day finance operations across a multi-entity group. It’s a brilliant role for someone who enjoys the mix of strong financial control, hands‑on consolidation work, and partnering closely with senior leaders as the business continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver accurate consolidated group accounts and oversee month‑end close
  • Manage intercompany reconciliations, eliminations and key financial controls
  • Prepare board‑ready reporting with clear variance analysis and insight
  • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, Companies Act requirements and VAT/PAYE
  • Oversee external audit and statutory accounts
  • Drive working capital performance, including credit control and supplier terms
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Partner with budget holders to track spend and support decision‑making
  • Improve finance systems and processes, driving automation and data quality
  • Oversee VAT returns, payroll taxes and liaison with external advisors
  • Support R&D tax claim preparation where required
