Job description

Completion of UK reporting processes:

  • Maintain accurate and complete books of account to defined standards and in accordance with the group’s accounting policies, structured to enable optimal performance reporting.
    Ensure adherence to all financial reporting deadlines across the group.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Support with the preparation of the UK’s statutory reporting requirements and audit procedures.

Perform UK month-end control processes:

  • Manage all aspects of lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16 for UK leases.
  • Process month-end manual adjustments, including review of project accruals.
  • Prepare detailed analysis of project expenditure to support forecasting processes.
  • Ensure that all foreign currency transactions are correctly recorded and translated on the general ledger, including accounting of any resulting FX gains and losses and/or revaluation reserves in accordance with IAS 21

Project Accounting & Revenue Recognition:

  • Develop a deep understanding of individual projects and the company’s project portfolio.
    Liaise and collaborate closely with the project control and project management teams.
  • Take ownership of revenue and project accounting and ensure this complies with IFRS 15 and any other applicable standards. Continually develop effective and efficient transactional processes and controls. Ensure proper matching.
  • Apply and enforce the company’s revenue recognition and project accounting policies.
  • Validate project stage of completion estimates.
  • Manage project-related intercompany transactions.
  • Support the process for the preparation and submission of grant funded project claims, including intra and end of project audits.
  • Support the management company’s time and expense tracking systems and processes.

Cash administration and management:

  • Support the UK cash flow forecasting process and forward planning of currency and exchange needs.
  • Act as key point of contact for any UK employee queries regarding finance processes Support UK/EMEA tax compliance in conjunction with external advisers (payroll taxes, sales taxes, corporation/income taxes, withholding taxes) and preparation and submission of quarterly UK VAT Returns to HMRC
  • Support the process of developing claim methodologies and preparation of R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC
  • Support to the Financial Controller - UK with the preparation of Statutory Accounts and the audit process.
  • Support the continuous improvement and development of our ERP solution, and integrity of financial reporting, including provision of support to financial teams in the US and India to ensure consistency and continuous improvement of financial reporting systems and processes.
  • Ad-hoc projects as required.

To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Qualified Financial Accountant with strong financial acumen – ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience working with SAP preferable, but not essential
  • Project accounting experience with excellent knowledge and practical application of revenue recognition, and long-term project accounting standards (IFRS).
  • A high level of motivation, with the energy and drive to “make things happen” and grow

  • Ability to solve problems without seeking guidance and supervision

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint presentation skills
  • Knowledge of oil & gas, steel, cement and/or chemicals is highly desirable but not essential
