This role is ideal for someone beginning their accounting career who is eager to develop hands‑on experience within a dynamic, multi‑entity environment. Reporting to the Financial Accounting North Lead, you will perform core administrative accounting tasks, support month‑end close activities, maintain accurate general ledger records, and contribute to local reporting and compliance requirements. This position offers exposure to international accounting practices, SAP systems, and opportunities to take ownership of key recurring processes. This is a 12‑month contract, based in Camberley (Surrey, UK) in a hybrid working model.
Your team
The General Accounting team is part of Terumo’s Global Business Services (GBS) organization, a centre of expertise delivering high‑quality accounting services across Europe. Our mission is to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity in financial data across entities. Operating in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment, the team collaborates closely with local finance partners, tax experts, and auditors to maintain strong financial controls and enable effective business decision‑making. Based primarily in Camberley (Surrey, UK), the team fosters a supportive, collaborative culture that encourages ownership, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Your Responsibilities
- Support month‑end closing activities, including journal postings, accrual calculations, depreciation runs, and IFRS16 processes.
- Perform key recurring tasks such as VAT netting, sales deferrals, stock provisions, and recurring journal set‑up.
- Maintain and clear balance sheet general ledger accounts, flagging anomalies for further investigation.
- Assist with the creation of manual debit notes for intercompany sales.
- Produce and follow up on statistical internal orders and local statutory data requirements.
- Support external audit processes by gathering documentation, samples, and explanations.
- Identify opportunities to standardize, improve, and increase efficiency across accounting processes.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance team and assist with local entity tasks as required.
Your profile
- An early‑career accounting professional, ideally AAT qualified or developing experience within the first 0 to 3 years of their accounting career.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple entities, deadlines, and time‑sensitive tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in repetitive and high‑volume tasks.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and able to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable, with genuine pride in delivering high‑quality work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively across teams and levels.
- Solid Excel skills; experience with SAP is beneficial but not required (full training can be provided).
- Resilient under pressure and flexible to work extended hours during peak periods such as month‑end.
