Job description

We’re looking for a hands‑on finance professional to own our day‑to‑day numbers and bring clarity to how the business is performing.

Role: Finance Manager (Early‑stage) / Management Accountant
Employment Type: Full‑time (Permanent)
Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (flexible hours are fine, as long as it’s communicated and consistent)
Location: Remote (UK‑based only)
Start Date: Immediate
Review Period: 3‑month trial phase, with a formal salary review at 12 months based on performance and company growth.

Base Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 per year (depending on experience)

• Profit‑sharing bonus (team pool): Eligible after your first full year
• Any profit above our net profit target is shared across the team

• 3% employer contribution (rising to 5% after 2 years)

Responsibilities

Finance Ownership & Operations

• Own the accuracy of day‑to‑day finance in FreeAgent
• Ensure invoices are raised correctly and on time
• Track payments and manage accounts receivable
• Reconcile expenses, subcontractor costs, and supplier payments
• Ensure revenue and costs are recorded in the correct accounting periods

Management Reporting & Clarity

• Produce monthly management accounts
• Explain month‑to‑month changes in revenue, costs, and profit in plain English
• Break down subcontractor and delivery costs to help distinguish growth, flexibility, and inefficiency
• Flag risks, inconsistencies, or trends early

Process & Structure

• Improve and document finance processes as the business grows
• Act as the internal finance owner and main point of contact for external accountants
• Help move the business from “rough understanding” to clear, reliable financial insight

About You

• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and management accounts>CreateStateState

• Comfortable working in a growing business where processes are still evolving
• Able to explain numbers clearly to non‑finance stakeholders
• Organised, pragmatic, and confident taking ownership
