Finance Manager

£50,000 to £55,000 + Bonus, Bath (Office Based)

I am exclusively partnering with my client to recruit a Finance Manager for their growing retail group. This is a brand-new role within the business, created as they transition their accounting operations in-house. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded Finance Manager to take full ownership of the internal finance function. Working closely with the Managing Director, you'll become the financial heartbeat of the organisation – balancing hands‑on accounting with genuine strategic influence. You’ll also benefit from ongoing mentoring from a part‑time Virtual Finance Director, as the business supports your progression into a future senior leadership role.

About the Job
  • Oversee all day‑to‑day transactional finance, ensuring accurate postings, reconciliations, and robust cash‑flow forecasting.
  • Manage service charge reconciliations and track, verify, and report supplier rebates and associated accruals.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with clear commentary, KPIs, and commercial insight for the Managing Director.
  • Monitor business performance, analyse trends, and maintain dashboards alongside delivering ad hoc reporting.
  • Support budgeting, cost control, margin analysis, and broader commercial decision‑making.
  • Strengthen and document financial processes, approvals, controls, and drive efficiencies across reporting and internal systems.
  • Partner closely with the MD on pricing, new business development, strategic projects, and the identification of risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities – with support from the Virtual Finance Director.
