About the Role

DS Smith is looking for a Finance Administrator to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. Reporting to the Operations Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting financial processes and ensuring we meet our business objectives across DS Smith Packaging.

Key Responsibilities: (included but not limited)
  • Provide support for ad hoc site queries and analysis of key business performance metrics.
  • Use SAP and other systems to generate credit notes and supplementary sales invoices as required.
  • Assist the Operations Finance team at month-end to ensure accurate and complete SSC transactional processing.
  • Collaborate with site teams to improve efficiencies and enhance financial processes for effective cost and margin control.
  • Manage site workflow, ensuring items are kept to a minimum, costs are valid, and coding is accurate and consistent.
  • Maintain purchase order integrity by ensuring open POs remain valid, closing those no longer required, and matching against workflow items where appropriate.
About You

We’re seeking a Finance Administrator with a strong foundation in finance and excellent reporting skills, ideally with experience using SAP. You’ll be confident working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines, while demonstrating advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel. Attention to detail is critical, alongside a flexible, proactive approach and the ability to challenge and hold others accountable when necessary. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll collaborate effectively across all levels of the business. Minimum Requirements:
  • Strong Excel and numerical skills
  • Understanding of finance administration and control
  • Self-motivated with a proactive attitude
  • Previous finance experience, ideally with SAP and strong reporting skills
  • Excellent communication skills; able to interact effectively at all levels

  • Advantageous - Business or finance-related qualification (e.g., AAT)
