A recruitment agency is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support a well-known overhead crane business. Job description
Overview

Adept resourcing are supporting a well-known, established, overhead crane business in their search for a Field Service Engineer.

Responsibilities
  • Travel to customer sites to carry out inspections, which may involve working in challenging environments or at height.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and identify potential mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Refurbishment/Modernisation of overhead cranes, hoists and lifting equipment.
  • Overhead crane and gantry installation, inspection, testing and commissioning.
  • Jib crane installation, inspection, testing and commissioning.
  • Carry out Service Follow Ups (SFU) and/or project modernisation work related to crane conversion or refurbishment.
  • Attend emergency breakdowns, identify faults and carry out effective repairs (primarily electrical, possibly PLC related).
  • Conduct thorough examinations of lifting equipment (cranes, hoists, slings, chains and other lifting accessories) in accordance with LOLER and PUWER regulations.
  • Prepare detailed and professional Engineer's reports using bespoke software, including assessments of equipment safety and compliance.
  • Ensure the site is left in a safe condition and tidy at the end of each shift.
  • Help customers manage and stay organised with their lifting equipment assets.
  • Carry out site surveys and advise customers on the correct selection and use of lifting equipment.
  • Proof load testing of equipment such as runway beams, swing jibs and basic installations.
Requirements
  • Previous specialist experience of OHTCs is essential, ideally with knowledge of cranes supplied by major global manufacturers (tower crane experience alone would not be sufficient).
  • Must be a competent industrial electrician and/or mechanically biased; apprentice trained (NVQ level 3 or above).
  • Must be able to work on your own, as part of the Service Department or lead a team of engineers depending on the nature of the jobs, duration, and location.
  • The individual should be self-motivated, responsible, prepared to travel throughout the UK and will be expected to work some unsociable hours.
