Overview

Field Service Engineer required in the WS, WV region, covering the West Midlands.

Salary and working arrangements

  • £36,500 basic salary with access to a generous bonus scheme
  • 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with access to overtime
  • Occasional pre-scheduled weekend work
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with an additional day for every 5 years of service
  • Company Vehicle Provided

Our client, a well-established leader in automated storage solutions, is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join their growing engineering team, covering the West Midlands area. Reporting to the Area Manager, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Conduct inspections, annual servicing, routine maintenance, and repairs on automated storage systems
  • Diagnose and resolve technical faults independently
  • Support system upgrades, including software updates
  • Assist with the commissioning and installation of new systems at client sites
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns
  • Provide technical support and product training to clients
  • Complete and submit accurate service reports and documentation promptly
  • Manage travel and schedule efficiently
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of automated storage products and systems
  • Represent our client professionally with a friendly and presentable manner
  • Occasional national and international travel (for training purposes)

Requirements

  • Strong willingness to learn and a hands-on, proactive approach
  • Experience or qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or general engineering
  • Excellent fault-finding and technical problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving licence with minimal points
  • Flexibility for regional and occasional national travel (including overnight stays)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professional presentation and a customer-first attitude
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Experience in storage solutions or materials handling (desirable but not essential)
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
