Job description
Overview

Field Service Engineer required in the Midlands area. 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with access to overtime; occasional pre-scheduled weekend work. £36,500 basic salary with access to a generous bonus scheme. 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with an additional day for every 5 years of service. Company vehicle provided.

Our client, a well-established leader in automated storage solutions, is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join their growing engineering team, covering the Midlands area. Reporting to the Area Manager, you will be responsible for field-based service and support activities.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections, annual servicing, routine maintenance, and repairs on automated storage systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical faults independently.
  • Support system upgrades, including software updates.
  • Assist with the commissioning and installation of new systems at client sites.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns.
  • Provide technical support and product training to clients.
  • Complete and submit accurate service reports and documentation promptly.
  • Manage travel and schedule efficiently.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of automated storage products and systems.
  • Represent the company professionally with a friendly and presentable manner.
  • Occasional national and international travel (for training purposes).
Location & Travel

Based in and around the LE, CV, WV, WS and B postcode regions. UK driving licence with minimal points required. This is a field-based role, so travel will be required. A company van is provided.

Requirements
  • Strong willingness to learn with a hands-on, proactive approach.
  • Experience or qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or general engineering.
  • Excellent fault-finding and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence with minimal points.
  • Flexibility for regional and occasional national travel (including overnight stays).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional presentation and a customer-first attitude.
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Experience in storage solutions or materials handling (desirable but not essential).
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
