Overview

Field Service Engineer (Generator Service Engineer) – Full Time – South East/ Mobile across UK. Role with Rolls-Royce Power Systems. Reporting to the Service Supervisor for the PowerGen Business Unit and responsible for day-to-day planned preventive maintenance, unplanned reactive maintenance, and scheduled repairs on MTU Kinetic Power Packs (Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Systems) and Diesel Generators. You will travel around the UK in a company-provided vehicle, carrying out a mix of scheduled service work and reactive work, which may include overnight stays. A 365/24/7 emergency on-call coverage requirement is part of the Field Service Engineer rota. Field Service Engineers are expected to be ambassadors for the company with recognised technical skills.

What you will be doing
  • Comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation applicable to the role.
  • Use diagnostic tools and procedures to identify faults and communicate them to the customer.
  • Provide 365/24/7 emergency on-call coverage as part of the Field Service Engineers call-out rota.
  • Compile technical reports on completion of each job detailing the work undertaken and the reasons why.
  • Carry out service, repairs and commissioning for Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Systems, Diesel Engines and their Ancillaries and Controls Systems.
  • Assist and support the Project Manager on installation, commissioning and testing of new Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Systems, Diesel Generator Systems and associated balance of plant equipment.
  • Build and develop strong professional relationships with all client stakeholders and suppliers to successfully carry out duties.

  • Willingness to work away from home and travel extensively within the UK, Ireland and overseas.
  • Significant field work experience.
  • Appropriate qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or demonstrable industry experience.
  • Knowledge of power generation, preferably with field installation and service experience in the UK and overseas for Dynamic Uninterruptible Power Systems, Static UPS, Diesel or Gas Genset products and related systems to form a turnkey LV/MV solution.
  • Experience with Control Systems is preferred.
  • Ability to understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
