Job Overview

£Competitive package + Car + O/T + Commission An established manufacturer of special purpose machinery for the food industry are now seeking a self motivated mechanical biased service engineer to join their international service team. This will suit someone who is ideally an apprentice trained or mechanical qualified engineer who has experience of installing, commissioning and servicing complex electro‑mechanical machinery within the Food processing industry.

The Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, commissioning training, maintenance and service activities relating to the Company’s products for all those customers and projects assigned to him.

The Service Engineer will also assist the Company in customer demonstrations, product trials; customer visits and at exhibitions as may be required from time to time.

A large amount of time will be spent travelling worldwide to countries in Europe, Asia, US and the Middle East from 2 to 3 days to 1 to 2‑week stints.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Liaison with Commercial Department, Works and Customers to plan all service and installation and training work efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Carry out routine mechanical and basic electrical maintenance and unplanned service work as and when required including out of hour’s breakdowns.
  • Attendance at Works during customer pre‑delivery acceptance tests when necessary.
  • Work with the Service Manager on pro‑active initiatives to increase opportunities for planned and contract maintenance and spares sales.
  • Promote the sales of spare parts and preventative maintenance contracts.
  • Promote the Company in a positive and professional way at all times.
  • Assist the Sales Team in customer demonstrations, product trials, technical support, customer visits and at exhibitions when required.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all service work undertaken and ensure the timely submission of timesheets, expenses claim forms, invoices and visit reports.
  • Provide detailed feedback on field service problems and how they were overcome.
  • Manage and control hours worked to ensure safe and efficient working.
  • Working in accordance with Company procedures and specific guidelines and terms of reference at all times.
  • Carry out your duties at all times in compliance with all applicable Laws and with Customer’s plant regulations and with due regarding for the Health and Safety of others.
  • Carry out such other tasks as may from time to time be requested, provided they are within the competence of the jobholder.

In return, All expenses will be paid, an excellent package is on offer which we are unable to advertise due to their market competition. Plus company car/car allowance, 25 days holiday, Overtime and company bonus is on offer. You will also be paid from the moment you leave home including door to door travel time. Due to this being a worldwide role, when based in the UK you will not always necessarily be required to work a full week but will still get paid.

If you are already a service engineer, who is level headed, has a flair for resolving mechanical problems who enjoys oversees travel and is experienced in installing and servicing special purpose machinery, ideally automated PLC controlled equipment then this could be your ideal position.
