Department: YUS - FT13 - General Engineers

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Birmingham

Reporting To: The Field Debt Leaders (FDLs)

Compensation: £35,000 / year

Location details: Field-based. Birmingham and surrounding areas; covering Midlands with ideal candidate residing in Leicester. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. Reward: £35,000 basic with additional £10,000 Quality bonus and £4,500 car allowance.

We’re reshaping how the energy industry approaches debt recovery, and we want a passionate, forward-thinking individual to continue the revolution. We are looking for a Field Debt Resolution Officer to be part of a rapidly growing team at the heart of our Yu Smart Field Debt Management function.

You’ll play a key role in preventing business customers getting further into debt whilst helping them become debt free as quickly but sustainably as possible through delivering face-to-face on-site solutions with professionalism and empathy. This is a non-technical role focused solely on resolving debt by visiting customers at their business, perfect for someone with field experience looking to make a genuine difference. Assertive rapport building with customers is more important than debt collection experience. This role involves visiting commercial customers solo on ‘friendly’ visits to understand the customers reason for being in arrears and also leading a small team of engineer and locksmith on commercial Warrant of Entry visits.

Key Responsibilities - What We Need from Yü
  • Conduct face-to-face visits to B2B customer sites to recover debt and enable agreed meter installations.
  • Train, coach, and mentor engineers to be confident and professional B2B debt operatives.
  • Work independently or lead and support other team members on Warrant visits while ensuring safety, professionalism, and compliance at all times.
  • Work closely with support teams to drive improvements in field operations and customer outcomes.
  • Provide accurate reporting and objective feedback to help evolve our processes.
  • Always ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards—be a role model for operational excellence.
  • Handle and resolve (or escalate) customer disputes effectively and in line with company values.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

If you have what it takes you could be just what we’re looking for…

  • Proven experience in field debt resolution but with a fresh outlook (you must have as a minimum 12 full months of field debt experience, but this can be in any industry or discipline).
  • High level of professionalism
  • Not afraid to take control of a situation and lead by example
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (excellent rapport building skills when dealing with people face-to-face)
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Composed, calm and professional when dealing with challenging or confrontational situations
  • Proactive, assertive and persuasive nature with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to adapt quickly and effectively to change
  • Competent in Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Outlook)
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay away from home when required
