Hours

4 hours per week to be used after school, school holidays and Saturdays.

Location

Jarrow, South Tyneside.

Pay Rate

Age related national minimum wage, up to £12.90 per hour from 1 April 2025.

Holiday

5.6 weeks pro rata per annum.

Role Overview

We are looking for a female Personal Assistant for a 16‑year‑old girl. The assistant will provide personal care and support during after‑school activities.

  • Accompany her to karate training, beach outings and swimming sessions.
  • Assist with technology use, encouraging recreational activities.
  • Support her with personal hygiene, dressing and use of pull‑ups or pads.
  • Facilitate transport via Metro, buses or other travel means.
  • Provide emotional support and keep a calm environment, especially in large crowds.
Medical Considerations

She has five types of epilepsy. She is emotionally exhausted and frustrated extremely when in large crowds and does not like fire alarms or the alarm in disabled toilets.

Personal Care

Some personal care will be required, such as assisting with pull‑ups and pads at particular times during the month.

Other Requirements
  • Genuine occupational requirement for the holder to be male/female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1–4.
  • Must have permission to work in the U.K.
  • Dog friendly would be an advantage (a friend’s dog does visit).
