Job summary

A children's care organization in Salford is seeking a caring Personal Assistant to support a 10-year-old boy with Autism and sensory processing disorder. Your role will include assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and providing emotional and social support in a nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have compassion, patience, and a basic understanding of disabilities. This is a permanent part-time role with flexible hours at £12.21 per hour.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily hygiene tasks and toileting as needed.

Job description

Caring Personal Assistant required to care for a 10 year old boy, with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder in Salford area. NH‑SC‑001

A caring, honest, reliable, trustworthy personal assistant to care for young child with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Learning Disability and no language in the Salford area. The ideal candidate will assist in daily activities, taking to the park, on nice walks, eating out, and to the swimming baths. Ensuring the child's well‑being, comfort, and safety. This role involves providing physical, emotional, and social support while encouraging independence in a supportive environment and a person centred approach.

Contract Type

Working 4 hours on a Saturday, times to be discussed and 12 hours per week during the school holidays. Permanent 4hrs p/w £12.21 p/h.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Person centred approach.
  • Personal Care Support: Assist with daily hygiene tasks and toileting, as needed.
  • Social and Recreational Support: Engage in play, hobbies, and other recreational activities to promote socialisation, creativity, and emotional development.
  • Communication and Reporting: Keep a log of the child’s daily activities, behaviours, and any health updates, ensuring clear communication with parents or guardians.
  • Adapting Care Approaches: Understand and apply specific care needs for the child’s disability, adjusting care routines to meet their unique needs.
  • Previous experience in personal care or working with children with disabilities (preferred).
  • Basic understanding of various disabilities and their impact on daily life.
  • Knowledge of child development, health, and safety.
  • First Aid preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, encouraging attitude while providing support.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
