Job summary

A community support organization is seeking a Youth Family Support Worker to support children and young people affected by substance use. The role involves tailored interventions, managing a caseload, and collaborating with partner agencies. A full UK Driving Licence is required. This is a temporary position based in Oxfordshire with flexible hybrid working available.

Responsibilities

Overview

Youth Family Support Worker

An exciting temporary opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to be part of a children and young people’s substance use services in Oxfordshire. You will provide support to children & young people who are affected by adults’ substance use as well as parents of children who are using substances.

Location: Hybrid working, travelling around West Oxfordshire

Hours: 35 hours per week

Shifts: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm – with flexibility

Length: 3 months, with the possibility of extension and permanent work

Responsibilities
  • Provide a range of tailored interventions with young people depending upon their presenting drug of choice, complexity and need
  • Responsible for holding and managing a combined caseload of both complex young people and their families
  • Provide specialist assessments, care planning, and deliver evidence based psychosocial brief and structured interventions through one-to-one appointments, groups, and online
  • Contribute to reducing the negative impacts of drugs and alcohol on children and young people’s educational achievement, longer term employment prospects and their overall health and wellbeing
  • Work effectively with a range of partner agencies to deliver a quality service, focussed on achieving positive change
Essential Requirements
  • Experience of direct and focused client work with vulnerable young people
  • Experience of completing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments
  • A full UK Driving Licence with access to a car
