The Family Assist team targets young people aged 11 on the edge of care using evidence‑based methodologies and systemic therapy approaches. We work intensively with families to reduce conflict or avoid family breakdown, providing a more intensive and flexible approach to young people and their families. Our work is structured around agreed objectives formulated in an inclusive way and requires high levels of contact, including regular evening work, on top of daytime contact.
We are looking for an innovative practitioner with experience working with children, young people and families to divert them from care. You will bring experience in working collaboratively with partners, identifying needs and providing coordinated, streamlined support. You will have particular skill in engaging with families and focus on positive engagement using a range of techniques and interventions.
Your practice will be underpinned by knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding, with extensive understanding of evidence‑based approaches including systemic therapy. Practitioners will work within an outcomes‑based performance framework, evidencing positive diversionary outcomes for young people identified at risk of entering care. This role requires regular out‑of‑hours work at evenings and weekends.
Hold an accredited nationally recognised professional qualification to work with children and young people to degree level or equivalent.
