Job description

Exciting opportunity for a HWIL Facility Systems Engineer, in our Hardware-in-the-Loop Team


Salary: Up to £46,000 depending on experience


Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4 days per week on-site due to workload classification


Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship


Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. All successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

We seek an ambitious engineer with a growth mindset to join our team supporting missile development. The HWIL team conducts comprehensive missile tests using real hardware in simulated environments, effectively allowing us to 'fire missiles indoors'.

As a HWIL Facility Systems Engineer, you will support simulations by ensuring facility control systems are operational and fit for purpose. Your role involves maintaining hydraulic motion tables and positioning systems, performing planned and corrective maintenance, and adapting to various engineering challenges in a hands-on environment.

You should be able to understand complex simulation systems and equipment, and adapt to new engineering situations with ease.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Broad engineering experience with expertise in some of the following: hydraulic systems, mechanical/electrical drawings, control system theory
  • Ideally a Bachelor's Degree (2:1) in Mechanical, Mechatronic & Robotic, Aeronautical, or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience with CAD (CREO preferred)
  • Workshop skills (hand tools and electrical tools)
  • Psychomotor skills, dexterity, ability to work at height
  • IT literacy and experience with Management Information Systems (MIS)
