A local government council is seeking a Facilities Officer (Casual) to provide caretaking cover, porterage, and security within community halls and schools. Responsibilities include the opening and closing of buildings, and handling alarm systems. Membership in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme is essential. Candidates will need to cover costs for their membership. This role involves weekend work and key handling responsibilities.
We have an excellent opportunity for the position of Facilities Officer (Casual) within the Council’s Facilities Management Service. As a Facilities Officer (Casual), you will provide caretaking cover, porterage and security within Community Halls, Centres and schools to cover weekend lets.
You will assist with the opening and closing of buildings, setting and un-setting of alarm systems and have key holding responsibilities.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
