You will ensure high standards of care for the site while supporting community initiatives and overseeing compliance with health and safety standards. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in facility management, budget management, and contractor relations. This position offers significant benefits including pension schemes and flexible working arrangements.
We’re looking for a Facilities Manager at Heartlands and East Pool Mine in Pool, Cornwall.
What it's like to work here
Heartlands in Pool is a potential new acquisition for the National Trust. We are negotiating the lease with Cornwall Council with plans to operate the site with our partners, Cornwall Rural Community Charity (CRCC) who support and strengthen Cornwall’s communities to improve their quality of life, and Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum, the umbrella organisation for 5,500 voluntary organisations in Cornwall.
Heartlands is built on part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site. Robinsons Engine House was part of South Crofty Mine, the last mine to close in Cornwall and the first to now re-open. We will operate and care for the site, working with our partners to bring benefit to the community. By laying the foundations, we expect a diverse array of activity tohappen here. Our partners’ vision is to improve and enrich people’s lives and giving opportunities to the largest and most deprived community in Cornwall.
You’ll be reporting into the Programme Manager for Heartlands, which is also a new role, initially focusing on bringing the site in line with National Trust policies and procedures. Then moving into the day to day running of these sites.
What you'll be doing
As our Facilities Manager, you'll be leading all planned preventative, reactive and small projects across the estate. You'll also be involved in the day-to-day running of capital works projects.
You'll lead and manage the facilities team, who are responsible for maintaining high standards throughout all areas visited by people, including staff and volunteers.
You’ll also form strong links with your fellow heads of department and work together to improve working practices and use resources efficiently. You’ll be part of the duty manager team, which means that you’ll be on a rota as an occasional duty manager.
