Job description

We are a growing manufacturing business specialising in advanced metal components produced using WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) technology. Our components are destined for high spec sectors including oil and gas, marine and defence. We then fabricate, test and certify components - including pressure vessels designed for human occupancy or harsh environments.

As we scale up we are seeking a skilled Fabricator - Welder to join our team and play a key role in turning additively produced parts into fully compliant, certified end products.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret technical drawings, engineering drawings and DED-arc output data to understand required geometries and specifications.
  • Perform manual and semi-automated welding & fabrication (e.g. MIG/MAG, TIG, as required) to assemble DED-arc produced parts into finished components / pressure vessels.
  • Carry out cutting, grinding, finishing, and any additional fabrication (machining, fitting, bolting) required to meet design tolerances.
  • Assist in non-destructive testing (NDT), pressure testing, final inspections, surface preparation/coating, and other procedures required for certification.
  • Ensure all fabrication and welding work adheres to relevant codes, standards and quality control procedures (e.g. for pressure vessels, pressure-holding, marine, defence).
  • Maintain proper documentation, traceability and certification records for each component / vessel.
  • Collaborate with engineering, QA/QC, and test teams - raise non-conformances, suggest improvements, and help drive continuous quality and safety improvements.
  • Perform general workshop duties - equipment maintenance, housekeeping, safe storage of materials, compliance with health & safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a welder / fabricator in a manufacturing or heavy-industry environment. Experience with high-spec / high-integrity welding (e.g. pressure vessels, marine, offshore, defence, safety-critical components) is highly desirable.
  • Competent in multiple welding processes (e.g. MIG/MAG, TIG, stick), plus cutting, grinding, finishing — ability to work with thick sections, complex geometries and fabricating to close tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings and specifications (2D and ideally 3D / CAD + as-built DED-arc data).
  • Strong understanding of welding standards, metallurgy, and inspection/NDT requirements (or willingness to train up).
  • Attention to detail, high workmanship standards, strong quality focus, and appreciation for safety and certification procedures.
  • Good physical capability - ability to handle heavy components, manipulate parts, work in workshop environment.
  • Good team-working skills and effective communication.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards associated to the fabrication of pressure vessels (e.g. ASME PVHO, ASME BPVC, API Q1/20S, European Pressure Vessel Code)
  • Previous experience with additive manufacturing parts, pressure-vessel fabrication/certification, marine or defence sector standards, or NDT/testing regimes.
  • Experience working directly with class societies and ensuring compliance with their rules, programs, and standards.
  • Familiarity with advanced welding techniques and additive manufacturing processes specific to subsea applications.
