EYFS Teaching Assistant (Full time, temporary)

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Start Date: January 5th, 2026. Salary: £85-£115 per day.

Education Personnel is supporting a busy and well-regarded primary school in Ilkeston as they look to welcome a new EYFS Teaching Assistant to their early years team. The school is known locally for its warm, community‑centred ethos and its distinctive links with local arts groups, giving children regular opportunities to explore music, movement and creative expression from an early age. Staff work closely together to create a calm, purposeful environment where children feel secure, valued and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of high-quality, play-based learning in line with the EYFS framework
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and preparing engaging activities that promote early communication, personal development, and foundational skills
  • Provide targeted support to children with emerging speech and language needs, SEND, or those requiring additional emotional or developmental support
  • Help facilitate continuous provision across both indoor and outdoor learning environments
  • Observe, record, and contribute to assessments such as Learning Journeys and EYFS profiles
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with parents and carers
  • Encourage an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with the wider early years team and participate in school activities and events
Requirements
  • Experience working with young children in an EYFS setting (nursery or reception)
