External Communications Manager - NEUR and UK-IE - 12 Months FTC Maternity Cover

About the Role: We are seeking someone who contributes to achieving profitable & sustainable growth targeted by the Allianz Trade NEUR/UK strategy by developing & implementing an integrated, region-specific external communications program. Functional responsibilities are reputation management & protection, and thought leadership positioning in partnership with Marketing. Media activity includes targeted annual plan & metrics, agency management & budget, spokesperson development & management, the development of a network of journalist contacts, and social media. Issues/crisis management expert that provides strategic counsel & tactical support at local, regional and Group level.

Main Responsibilities:
Operative Communications:

Manages key functional areas: external (including spokesperson function) and serves as a Consultant to CEO, Executive Management Team and executives and peers regionally and locally.

Strategic Communications:
  • Development of UK & regional corporate communications plan, aligned to regional commercial goals and Allianz Trade Group Communications.
  • Sets agenda and priorities. Develops communications guidelines and processes, ensures global standards, best practices.
  • Ensures messaging & positioning consistency, and manages reputational risk.
  • Development and management of an integrated media relations program supporting key objectives, external agency management
  • Optimize existing company initiatives, and materials
Operative Staff Management:
  • Co-ordination of Northern European network of local communication managers, with the Senior Internal Communications Executive
  • Foster cross-OE UK & regional collaboration with Allianz
  • Establishes & fosters best practice in Regional Communications operations - 30% NEUR / 70% UK-IE
What we are looking for:
  • Market knowledge: B2B and, ideally, financial services
  • Strategic corporate communications experience, internal & external.
  • Excellent journalism & business writing skills
  • Proven reputational issues/crisis experience
  • Project management expertise
  • Proven presentation & public speaking skills
  • Effective with small-team building, ability to improve skills, standards and deliverables
  • Experienced with digital media management- inter/intranets, and social media
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, Executive and business peer coaching, and strong networking skills.
  • Languages: English, excellent written and spoken.
  • Other language capabilities such as Spanish, French, and German desirable but not essential.
