Job description
Expert Witness / Claims Lead

We are currently working with a leading UK consultancy seeking an experienced Expert Witness / Claims Lead (RICS Chartered) to join their growing team. This is a dual‑role opportunity combining technical leadership on high‑profile disputes with the strategic oversight of complex claims.

The Role

You will act as an Expert Witness on quantity surveying‑related disputes (litigation, arbitration, adjudication) delivering objective professional analysis and evidence. Simultaneously you’ll lead the claims management function, overseeing a team compiling supporting documentation and engaging directly with clients and legal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide independent expert opinion and prepare detailed expert reports.
  • Attend expert meetings, conferences and cross‑examinations.
  • Manage and lead claims processes, advising clients and compiling robust evidence.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and legal teams.
  • Support business development efforts and promote services to new clients.
Qualifications
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS essential).
  • Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • Proven experience in expert witness work under Civil Procedure Rules and managing claims.
  • Strong analytical report‑writing and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and leading a small team.
  • Commercially astute and client‑facing with a proactive mindset.
Location
  • West Midlands or commutable to London (3 days per week in office)
