JAG-recognised qualification for Lower GI endoscopy

Job description

The postholder will undertake training in order to be competent in the knowledge and skills necessary for the delivery of diagnostic & therapeutic Lower GI endoscopic procedures, namely colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy with associated therapeutic practices (biopsy, polypectomy, haemorrhoid therapy and tattooing).
On completion of the JAG-recognised qualification for Lower GI endoscopy and once deemed competent in associated procedural skills after a period of preceptorship, the post holder will practise autonomously. Delivering independent assessment, clinical examination, diagnosis, clinical decision making, prescribing and planning care and treatment and safe discharge of patients within a defined caseload inclusive of routine, urgent and straight-to-test referrals.
They will be accountable with support for ensuring all opportunities are utilised to advance practice, including audit of training via JETS (JAG Electronic Training System).
