We're working in partnership with a leading research institute to recruit a motivated, dedicated, and detail-oriented Animal Technician to join their Biological Support Unit (BSU) in Scotland. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected organisation known for its commitment to animal welfare, scientific excellence, and professional development.

What You'll Do:
  • Provide daily care and husbandry to laboratory animals, maintaining high welfare and ethical standards.
  • Carry out regulated procedures under Home Office licensing, with meticulous record keeping.
  • Support research teams by planning and delivering animal work to meet scientific goals.
  • Train staff and users, perform audits, and ensure compliance with SOPs and Home Office requirements.
  • Work flexibly across different areas to support operational needs, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
  • Holder of a current Home Office Personal Licence.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work within defined SOPs.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver work independently.
  • Willingness to work on a weekend rota.
  • Experience forb laboratory animal care or research facility work.
  • Familiarity with databases or spreadsheets for data recording.
  • IAT qualifications (or working towards them).
  • Keen interest in contributing to continuous improvement within the BSU.
