Overview

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to assist our HR and H&S Director with the day-to-day workload within the HR department at our Head Office in Coney Green, Chesterfield. Reporting to the HR and H&S Director, this role involves managing the HR team to deliver an efficient and professional service to employees by providing confidential HR support.

Designer Contracts is the UK's largest flooring contractor operating across 13 regional facilities. As well as floor covering, the company provides curtains and blinds, furniture and lighting. Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the HR and H&S Director as she is the first point of call for all HR issues that arise.
  • Assisting with disciplinary, grievance and capability procedures from investigation to resolution.
  • Recommending change to policies and procedures in line with legislation changes.
  • Assisting in ensuring the HR team are up to date on legislation changes.
  • Provide payroll cover when required.
  • Providing day-to-day proactive and effective HR service to Managers and colleagues across the business.
  • Champion effective absence management processes to ensure absence levels are regularly monitored and dealt with appropriately.
  • Reviewing and updating job descriptions.
  • Recruitment – supporting managers with shortlisting, interviews, offers, induction and onboarding.
  • Ensuring that computerised staff records are maintained.
  • Making full use of the Human Resources Information System.
  • Producing confidential correspondence including contracts and employee relation letters.
  • Ensuring that all employees provide copies of relevant documentation.
  • Dealing with internal and external enquiries by telephone, email and letter.
  • Ensuring driving licence checks are carried out for new starters and on a biannual basis.
  • Printing, scanning and filing as and when required.
Qualifications
  • Level 5 CIPD.
  • Proven experience in a senior HR role.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and ACAS guidelines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office application.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Management experience.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of accuracy.
