Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Full-time Events Chef to join our prestigious catering company. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences for a variety of events and outside catering opportunities. This role requires a creative and adaptable individual who can thrive in fast-paced environments and deliver high-quality cuisine consistently.

You will be working on one chef events for small canape parties to 10 man teams for larger weddings, and will have the skills to work under your own steam, including driving the vans to venues from the central leeds production kitchen, to set up, organising staff on off site venues and producing fantastic bespoke events, no 2 days will be the same!

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside the prep chefs and hands on chef /owner to deliver, set up and execute menus for various events, including weddings, corporate functions, private parties, and outdoor gatherings
  • Collaborate with the catering team to ensure seamless event execution and client satisfaction
  • Oversee off site kitchen operations during events, including staff supervision and quality control
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health, and safety regulations in all aspects of food preparation and service
  • Coordinate with the Exec chef to manage kitchen inventory, food ordering, and cost control
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and rotation of ingredients to minimize waste and maintain freshness
  • Adapt menus and cooking techniques to accommodate various event venues and outdoor settings
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain consistent quality and efficiency
  • Participate in menu tastings and consultations with clients to customize offerings and address specific requirements
  • Collaborate with the events team to ensure smooth communication between kitchen and front-of-house staff
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate new techniques and flavors into menu offerings
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during event preparation or execution
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as an Events Chef or Sous chef in a similar role within the catering industry, be it banqueting in hotels, events venues or off site catering
  • Strong background in outside catering and ability to adapt to various event environments
  • Experience as a sous chef or in a leadership role within a professional kitchen
  • Extensive knowledge of fresh food preparation techniques and ingredient sourcing
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Food Safety Certification (e.g., ServSafe) & all allergen certificates in date
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience managing kitchen teams
  • Creativity in menu development and food presentation
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for events
  • Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and tools specific to event catering
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various event locations
