Senior Estimator – Ground Engineering / Civil Construction

Overview

We're representing a leading specialist in ground engineering and civil construction, known for delivering technically complex projects across the UK. As part of their growing Driven Piling team, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a business that values collaboration, innovation, and long‑term professional development.

You’ll play a key role in preparing and managing tender submissions for piling and geotechnical projects, ensuring accuracy, quality, and commercial success across a range of frameworks and one‑off schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the preparation of estimates and tender submissions in line with enquiry documentation and company policies.
  • Liaise closely with internal stakeholders - from operations and project managers to commercial and finance teams - to ensure all bids are uniform, accurate, and commercially sound.
  • Carry out technical appraisals, design calculations, and value‑engineering exercises to provide the most competitive and sustainable solutions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients at tender stage and throughout handover to operational delivery.
  • Provide guidance to junior estimating staff and ensure best practice is maintained throughout all bids.
  • Review bid documentation, develop tender strategies with the Bid Manager, and prepare major cost estimates.
  • Promote the company’s services and capabilities across the industry, supporting business growth and cross‑selling opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality, health & safety, and environmental management systems.
Skills & Experience Required
  • HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related discipline.
  • Proven background in estimating within ground engineering, piling, or civil infrastructure.
  • Experience managing complex, multi‑discipline tenders through full lifecycle – from enquiry to award.
  • Strong commercial and technical understanding, with the ability to identify opportunities for value engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to build trust and long‑term relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • Organised, detail‑oriented, and calm under pressure.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
