Overview

My client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their dynamic team in the commercial construction sector. Your expertise and ability to provide accurate cost assessments will directly impact the success and profitability of their projects. Day-to-Day

As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the project development process, working closely with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams. Your daily activities will include analyzing project requirements, preparing cost estimates, evaluating tenders, and ensuring budgets align with project goals. You’ll leverage your knowledge of the construction market and industry best practices to deliver accurate and competitive proposals.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial new builds
  • Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand requirements.
  • Gather and analyse data on materials, equipment, and labour needs.
  • Create and maintain detailed cost models to support contract negotiations and procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure estimates align with design and construction plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential cost overruns.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, including labour costs, material prices, and regulatory changes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring cost-competitive pricing.
  • Assist in tendering processes, providing breakdowns of costs and relevant submissions.
  • Continuously review and refine estimation processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the commercial construction industry, with a focus on new builds and care home developments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation and project management software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, or similar tools).
  • Attention to detail, an analytical mindset, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety regulations, as well as environmental sustainability practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented and inclusive culture.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field are a plus.
