Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estates Manager -- Projects to join our Estates & Facilities Directorate. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for the delivery of capital investment programmes, backlog maintenance, and the operational management of construction and engineering projects across our estate.

You will act as the Trust's Clerk of Works, ensuring all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory and regulatory standards. You'll work closely with the Capital Redevelopment Team, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure our estate remains fit for purpose and supports excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead the planning and delivery of capital and backlog maintenance programmes.
  • Oversee construction and engineering projects from design to handover.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, HTMs, and statutory regulations.
  • Manage project budgets, risk assessments, and commissioning processes.
  • Act as Authorised Person for various engineering services (subject to training).
  • Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to minimise service disruption.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Degree level qualification in Building Services Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Building, Architectural, Quantity Surveying;
  • Plus, specialist knowledge acquired through an MSc or equivalent experience;
  • Project Management Qualification (PRINCE -2)
  • Completion of a recognised leadership development training programme;
  • Member of an appropriate professional body;
  • Evidence of continuing professional development;
Experience
  • Experience working in a construction and/or Estates environment;
  • Experience of managing, planning, and budgeting;
  • Experience in building services management;
  • Working in a multi-skilled organisation;
  • Experience of risk management concepts and approaches;
  • Experience in the management of a high quality, responsive and cost-effective estates service with specific customer focus;
