A leading healthcare provider in Northallerton is seeking an Engineering Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance team and operational responsibilities. The role requires a degree in engineering, relevant healthcare experience, and the ability to manage complex projects while ensuring high standards in customer service and safety protocols. Candidates must be able to work independently, lead teams effectively, and navigate challenging working environments. This is a permanent full-time position with a competitive salary and training opportunities.
Responsible for engineering maintenance section for the trust, including management of staff.
Act as Authorised Person/ Responsible Officer in relation to specific maintenance responsibilities e.g. medical gases, sterilisation equipment.
Maintains, operates and reviews pre‑planned maintenance programme / and reactive and out of hours maintenance; review and revise procedures, working practices.
The work does involve lone working which requires candidates to be able to identify various alarms and work in restricted places, it is therefore essential that candidates read the Job Description and are able to undertake all tasks required.
Users of the service should receive a high level of Customer Service in a polite efficient manner by staff with a high standard of personal presentation and hygiene.
Occasionally the post holder will be required to access unpleasant working areas such as confined spaces, drainage systems and plant rooms and may be exposed to sewage, fumes, dust and dirt.
Will work closely with the Estate Manager, Estate officers, Estate team leader and clinical managers for example ward managers, matrons, other heads of departments.
Working in agreement and co‑operating with other departments to ensure maintenance and repairs are completed, in and around the other service users inc patients.
Providing engineering information at meetings for departmental updates relating to complex engineering information, including pricing and timescales of work.
Provide and receive complex information, negotiating skills.
Exchanges maintenance, technical project‑related information with specialists, non‑specialists; negotiate with contractors or suppliers.
Analyse, plan, and organise complex activities, taking into consideration the health and safety aspects, departmental demands due to labour and costs.
Plans and prioritises maintenance projects, including liaison with users, contractors, specialist agencies, project management.
To undertake all line‑management responsibilities and duties for all specialist Engineering Section staff including e‑rostering, training, KSF Appraisals of all staff and ensure that they all receive an agreed PDP and objectives.
Will have key relationship skills to motivate the team and be empathic in situations that may arise on site or within the team.
