A UK university NHS trust is looking for an EOC Inpatient Scheduler to manage elective surgical waiting lists and coordinate patient bookings for surgeries. The role involves efficiently scheduling patients based on clinical urgency and ensuring compliance with patient access policies. Successful applicants will have strong customer care skills, NHS experience, and be expected to uphold confidentiality standards. This position offers a salary range from £32,199 to £34,876 per annum inclusive of high-cost area supplement.

To understand and proactively manage, with the consultants, the elective surgical waiting lists.
To book elective patients into appropriate theatre slots, taking into consideration both clinical urgency and time on the waiting list.
To book pre-assessment appointments in a timely manner and adjust lists as required if any patients fail pre-assessment.
To co‑ordinate any special requirements, e.g. ITU beds, transport, other surgeons for joint operations and so on.
To liaise with Theatres to be aware of any patients cancelled on the day or who do not attend and to take the appropriate action to rebook or discharge.
To work closely with the PPWT team to ensure that funding for specified theatre procedures is appropriately sought in accordance with guidelines.
Booking & Scheduling:
Ensure that elective theatre lists are compiled and updated on Patient Administration System (PAS) (or any other Trust systems) and reviewed/signed off by the relevant surgical teams/ Management.
Contact patients offering them a choice of admission dates and agree with them the date of admission in line with the Patient Access Policy.
Create a waiting list entry for patients requiring admission.
Schedule procedures ensuring patients are fully booked on PAS and ensure a confirmation letter is sent or that patients are telephoned if booking at short-notice.
Book patients in chronological order or in order of clinical urgency.
Book procedures ensuring that theatre capacity is proactively and efficiently used.
Book HDU and ITU beds according to the nature of procedure or if requested by Surgical team.
Undertake the booking of elective admissions for cancer patients and liaise closely with Cancer MDT Co‑ordinators to ensure that these are scheduled appropriately within the cancer pathway targets.
