Are you passionate about delivering high-quality waste and recycling services that make a real difference to the local environment and community? Uttlesford District Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental Services Team Leader to join our operational management team.

As Team Leader, you’ll take the lead in coordinating and managing waste and recycling operations across the district. You’ll ensure services run safely, efficiently, and professionally, while driving continuous improvement and supporting our commitment to a cleaner, greener Uttlesford.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and motivate a large team of drivers, loaders, and coordinators to deliver excellent services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including risk assessments and staff training.
  • Plan and allocate resources for scheduled and ad hoc work to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Respond to customer queries and complaints with respect and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with other teams and contractors to maintain smooth operations.
  • Support emergency response within the district when required.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong knowledge of waste management legislation and service requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire others.
  • Experience managing waste operations and supervising staff.
  • A valid UK driving licence (Category B+E).
  • IT skills (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) and willingness to undertake further training.
  • IOSH qualification (or willingness to train).
