Job description

Lynx Employment is recruiting an Environmental Health Officer on behalf of our client in Sandwell. You'll work under the Senior EHO, supporting residents and businesses, ensuring compliance with Environmental Health and public protection legislation, investigating complaints, and delivering programmed inspections across the borough.

Key Duties
  • Enforcing relevant Environmental Health/Citizen & Consumer Protection legislation.
  • Investigating criminal/civil complaints and statutory nuisance issues.
  • Conducting detailed site inspections, risk assessments, and follow-up reports.
  • Securing compliance through advice, education, and enforcement where needed.
  • Preparing prosecution files and representing the Authority in court when required.
  • Managing a caseload, keeping accurate case notes, and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively across service teams and contributing to joined‑up activity.
  • Delivering occasional talks/publicity support under supervision.
About You
  • Qualified EHO (or close to qualification) with relevant regulatory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Health law and enforcement practice.
  • Confident investigator and inspector, able to write clear legal‑standard reports.
  • Professional, resilient, and skilled in handling difficult situations.
  • Flexible, organised, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
