Are you a highly motivated and qualified Secondary English Teacher seeking a rewarding, fixed-term opportunity? We are looking for an exceptional practitioner to join our successful and forward-thinking secondary school starting in January. This full-time, temporary post is ideal for a dedicated professional ready to take ownership of their own classes and contribute fully to the departmental success within Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).
The core focus of this position is to plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, engaging lessons in English Language and English Literature. You will be responsible for a full timetable of classes, ensuring exceptional progress and positive outcomes for all students aged 11-16. You will be expected to use formative and summative assessment strategies to effectively guide student learning, particularly focusing on preparing Key Stage 4 students for their GCSE examinations.
A competitive pro-rata salary is paid weekly, strictly adhered to the Main Pay Scale (MPS) or Upper Pay Scale (UPS), commensurate with experience. This is a fixed-term contract starting in January offering excellent experience, a robust Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program, and the chance to work within a highly collaborative and supportive departmental team.
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic English educator who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in English or a closely related literary/linguistic field.
Possesses recent, demonstrable experience teaching KS3 English and KS4 (GCSE) English Language and Literature.
Exhibits excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
Is passionate about literature, language, and communication and committed to raising student attainment.
Demonstrates a strong understanding of the National Curriculum requirements for English.
Is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
You will take full responsibility for the learning and achievement of all pupils in your classes, including planning, preparation, and detailed marking. Other duties include contributing to the development of English schemes of work, assessing student progress and providing timely feedback, undertaking a form tutor role, and actively participating in whole-school life and training.
