About the Role

This role requires you to provide high-quality support for the curriculum team in order to provide a high-quality experience for our students. This professional, flexible, pro-active customer service role requires the Technician to be highly adaptable and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

Consistency, approachability, and helpfulness are key along with a positive self-reliant manner. A willingness to own, problem solve, and suggest new approaches and systems will also be important.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing all necessary materials/equipment to support the day-to-day running of the curriculum area.
  • To liaise closely with academic and support staff within the College to ensure a good student experience.
  • Liaise closely with estates and use the COPC Support Hub to report any issues or faults.
  • Ensure resources are used, re-used, and recycled to minimize cost and create a sustainable environment and culture.
  • To ensure all equipment has the required health & safety checks and records are kept.
  • To comply with all relevant Health and Safety regulations and assist in the implementation of the College's Health and Safety Policy.
  • To support the preparation and smooth running of End Point Assessments.
  • To dispose of any surplus equipment/materials in compliance with the College Health and Safety requirements.
  • To maintain a safe, clean, and tidy curriculum area.
  • To clean and store equipment to meet the needs of the specific curriculum area.
  • To follow the college procedures to order the necessary tools / materials / resources, to ensure the smooth running of the curriculum area.
  • To liaise with suppliers to get the best value for money when ordering goods.
  • Checking delivery notes/inventories and notifying the Curriculum Administrator of receipt of goods to ensure invoices are approved and paid timely.
  • Support with various college events including Open Evenings and Awards Ceremonies.
  • Support the Curriculum and Management team with any other duties as they arise.
  • To be familiar with the work of other Technicians in order to ensure effective cover for sickness, holidays etc.
Requirements
  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant industry or subject.
  • Experience of working in post 16 education
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Able to work productively under the direction of line manager
  • Ability to support science students with their learning
  • Candidates must be willing to undertake training for subject-specific areas.
