Working pattern: 12-hour shifts, 3 days on 3 days off – Days only, no night shifts.

Salary: £52,074.05 inclusive of contractual overtime.

Position Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented, driven individual to join our Nestlé Coffee business within our Factory as an Engineering Technician, reporting directly to a day’s Maintenance Engineer in the Coffee Packaging department.

This role is a key role for the department; being a shift-based role covering all areas within the Coffee Packaging department.

The Nestlé Tutbury Factory in Derbyshire is one of the largest Nestlé factories in Europe after circa £500 million investment over the last few years. It is also the home of Nescafe and Dolce Gusto in the UK producing a range of beverage products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines.

The factory is a Centre of excellence for Nescafé products around the world producing freeze-dried, spray dried and pod coffee technologies and is at the forefront of coffee innovation globally.

A day in the life of a Shift Technician

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Completion of planned/scheduled maintenance activities in line with factory KPI’s, supporting the business to maximize Coffee packaging production capacity.
  • Provide technical support to the engineering and shift management teams across the coffee packaging department.
  • Provide prompt and efficient reactive maintenance in breakdown situations, keeping a safety-first mindset and risk management mitigation.
  • Driving the use of breakdown analysis to continuously improve asset intensity and plant availability.
  • Provide technical support to the engineering and shift management teams across the coffee packaging department.
  • Supporting the AMM strategy by continually seeking opportunities to revise and improve the safety of our machinery, our planned maintenance activities undertaken, maintenance plans that are executed and ways of working in the engineering department.
  • Drive and own your own competency build plan.
What will make you successful

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced engineer or technician, ideally with a strong background in an FMCG manufacturing environment.

Other key criteria:

  • Will be qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Engineering practices - Essential
  • Will have completed a time served apprenticeship. - Preferred
  • Will have a hands‑on, practical approach to their work, along with a great can‑do attitude
  • Will have the ability to deliver compliance in safety, quality, cost and delivery
  • Will be able to support the development of the operational teams.
  • Will have strong fault‑finding skills and proven experience in a high‑speed production line environment.
  • Full TI06 Authorized Competence would be an advantage.
  • The ability to provide coherent and comprehensive technical feedback at all levels in the factory.
