Job description
Engineering Team Lead

Shift pattern - 4 on 4 off

Salary: £55,000-£60,000

Tired of putting out fires on the factory floor? A major UK food manufacturer is looking for an Engineering Team Lead to take control on shift, lead a crew of mechanical, electrical, and multi‑skilled engineers, and make sure production keeps moving without chaos.

You’ll report to the Shift Manager, deputise when needed, and be the person people actually listen to when machines break. Expect SAP and PPM systems to be your allies, grease and heat to test your patience, and the occasional close encounter with poultry.

What you’ll actually do:
  • Lead and coach your team without losing your mind.
  • Ensure Health & Safety isn’t just a poster on the wall (COSHH included).
  • Train staff on machines and make sure visiting engineers don’t leave chaos behind.
  • Keep equipment documentation accurate, tidy, and accessible.
  • Prioritise work and make decisions when management isn’t around.
  • Maintain stores, utilities, and environmental compliance.
What we need from you:
  • Time/Skill‑Served Fitter with 4+ years industrial experience.
  • Mechanical/electrical aptitude and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • IT literate, decisive, and organised.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Initiative and the ability to turn chaos into order.
Bonus points:
  • Experience in food processing or poultry machinery.
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics knowledge.
  • Good communication and people skills.
Why bother?

You’ll join a major food producer making some of the UK's most iconic brands. £55‑60k salary, holidays, pension, family‑friendly policies, life assurance, and real learning opportunities are all included.

If you’re ready to lead, get your hands dirty, and make a real impact, this role is for you.
