WHAT DOES AN ENGINEERING SUPPORT TECHNICIAN DO?
An Engineering Support Technician works to deliver best-in-class engineering operations across multiple upper tier COMAH sites within the Spirits Engineering department. Their key functions include document management—such as maintaining engineering standards and CAD drawings. They act as custodians of all supporting documentation for maintenance and project engineering functions and contribute to Continuous Improvement activities at Bacardi to ensure that:
- All relevant Bacardi and legislative standards are up to date and accessible for the UKSC Engineering Team.
- All process and GA drawings are current, stored in CAD format, and managed through a controlled document process.
- A comprehensive document management system for engineering resources is implemented and maintained.
- Assist in developing engineering personnel according to skills matrices and within the CTMS process.
- Support engineering performance reporting and process improvements.
- Strive for performance improvements aligned with World Class Manufacturing standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
With Our Consumer At The Heart, Your Key Responsibilities Will Be To
- Manage and implement effective document management processes for the UKSC Engineering Team.
- Develop and maintain engineering drawings (P&IDs, GAs, electrical, gas, schematics, site, HAC), updating as needed, and ensure accuracy in registers.
- Custodian of all Spirits Engineering SOPs, WIs, and RAs.
- Support projects from concept to implementation, testing, and handover, ensuring asset drawings and registers are updated.
- Recommend process improvements to support continuous improvement activities.
- Assist in developing the engineering team according to current and future needs, managing skills matrices and CTMS.
- Support external suppliers/contractors, including PTW requirements for maintenance and projects.
- Support the Spirits Maintenance Manager and Coordinator as needed.
- Propose improvements for asset management and operational efficiency.
- Participate actively in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.
- Maintain work area in 5S standards, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Contribute to team KPIs and ongoing performance improvements.
- Engage in training for personal development, including CompEx certification for hazardous areas (ATEX, DSEAR).
- Proactively monitor performance, challenge issues, and respond with effective solutions.
- Comply with health and safety regulations, proactively eliminating hazards.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- HNC / HND in engineering or equivalent
- Proficiency in CAD software
EXPERIENCE
- Maintenance of P&ID and GA drawings in CAD
- Document management in a production environment
- Knowledge of CMMS systems
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Experience creating technical documents and reports
- Experience in FMCG or spirits industry preferred
- Understanding of hazardous environment standards (ATEX, DSEAR)
- Knowledge of engineering standards (PSSR, LOLER, PUWER)
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN, FMECA, TPM)
- Ability to network across multi-site operations; team management experience is a plus
