Job Title: Engineering Supervisor (Facilities Management)

Location: Greenwich, London

Salary: £46,000 – £47,000 DOE

Shift Type: Monday–Friday, Days (flexibility required for peak periods and occasional weekends)

The Role

We are recruiting an experienced Engineering Supervisor to lead service delivery across a large academic estate in Greenwich. This role sits within a well-established facilities operation supporting a complex mixed‑use portfolio, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance to high compliance and service standards.

You will supervise a multi‑skilled engineering team covering mechanical, electrical, HVAC and fabric services, ensuring statutory compliance, asset reliability, and excellent customer experience for residents and stakeholders. The position requires strong leadership, technical credibility, and the ability to operate within a performance‑driven FM environment.

This is a hands‑on leadership role with responsibility for labour coordination, subcontractor management, CAFM utilisation, audit readiness, and continuous improvement of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate and manage a team of engineers and compliance operatives across Hard FM services.
  • Ensure all M&E systems remain fully operational, compliant and maintained to statutory standards.
  • Manage PPM schedules and reactive maintenance via CAFM systems, ensuring SLA and KPI adherence.
  • Coordinate direct labour and subcontractors, including quality inspections and compliance documentation.
  • Act as or progress toward Authorised Person status within your discipline (training provided).
  • Oversee health & safety compliance, safe systems of work, and incident reporting.
  • Support peak operational periods including student changeover weekends.
  • Manage materials ordering, cost control, resource planning and engineer utilisation.
  • Conduct audits, drive service improvement plans, and maintain high‑quality Hard FM documentation.
  • Develop engineers through training, appraisals, and performance management.
  • Build effective working relationships with on‑site stakeholders and service partners.
Candidate Profile
  • HND / NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on building services / plant engineering experience.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within FM or estates environments.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to obtain).
  • Authorised Person experience (LV, Mechanical, Boilers, Confined Spaces etc.) or willingness to train.
  • Strong technical knowledge across Hard FM disciplines.
  • Experience working within TFM / IFM environments.
  • Confident using CAFM systems, Microsoft Office and performance reporting tools.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of compliance, audits, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Exposure to heritage or listed buildings is advantageous but not essential.
