Job summary

A leading maritime engineering firm is seeking an Engineering Standards & Compliance Engineer. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of safety cases and frameworks, ensuring regulatory compliance and working closely with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering safety and excellent communication skills. This position offers hybrid working with a competitive salary.

Overview

Engineering Standards & Compliance Engineer
Location: Poole
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 (dependent on experience)
Full Time - Permanent
Hybrid working option

Responsibilities
  • Development, ownership, and delivery of safety cases and safety frameworks.
  • Management of regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with certifying authorities and senior stakeholders to ensure all assets meet the highest safety and operational standards.
About You

We are looking for a motivated individual with a dynamic approach to engineering safety and compliance. You'll bring strong communication skills and the ability to work with senior stakeholders across complex projects.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in the ownership and development of safety cases and frameworks.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholders, including duty holders.
  • Formal training as a Safety Engineer, or equivalent professional experience.
  • An accredited engineering or safety management qualification (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in the development of safety cases and management of design intent.
Desirable skills and experience
  • Engineering compliance knowledge, preferably in Workboat Code or Irish Coastguard requirements.
  • Experience contributing to the development of regulations.
  • Risk management training (IOSH or equivalent).
  • Experience in designing or operating SAR or other specialist vessels.
  • Strong background in marine design and engineering environments.
  • Chartered or Fellow Engineer registration with the Engineering Council.
  • Senior/Principal level experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience with certification processes through class societies, flag states, and standards development.
