The Career and Talent Team

Join the Career and Talent Team at BAE Systems and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering across one of the UK’s most advanced and diverse engineering organisations.

This is a unique opportunity to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Engineering function across the entire Air sector, influencing professional standards, capability development, and talent pathways at scale. You’ll work at the heart of the business, collaborating with Heads of Capability, senior leaders, and engineering professionals to drive meaningful impact.

Every three weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to work across different BAE Systems sites throughout the UK, building strong relationships, gaining insight into varied engineering environments, and broadening your professional perspective. Beyond BAE, you’ll engage with key external stakeholders, including Professional Engineering Institutions and the Engineering Council, helping to shape and promote professional registration, standards, and best practice.

You’ll be part of a cross-sector working group, collaborating with colleagues from Air, Submarines, Maritime, and other BAE sectors, giving you unrivalled visibility across the organisation and the chance to influence engineering capability at an enterprise level.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building networks, presenting to large and diverse audiences, and confidently representing engineering at all levels. You’ll grow a strong internal and external profile, expanding your influence while continuously developing your own skills and expertise.

Crucially, this is a role with real autonomy. You’ll be trusted to self-manage, shape the position in your own way, and grow its impact over time, bringing your ideas, creativity, and leadership to how engineering talent and professional standards are supported across BAE Systems.

If you’re looking for a role where you can connect people, influence strategy, and leave a lasting legacy in engineering, this is your opportunity to make it happen.

Why BAE Systems?

You’ll be part of an inclusive culture that values diversity of thought, rewards integrity, merit, and where you’ll be empowered to fulfil your potential. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
