Overview

Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as an Engineering Apprentice at AD Precision Engineering Ltd.

AD Precision was founded in 1998. Since then, their aim has been to provide a full range of engineering and manufacturing processes for companies worldwide.

Located in Newport on The Isle of Wight, the team are dedicated to delivering excellent results. With over 40 years’ experience AD Precision’s employees are highly skilled, efficient and effective.

Owing to apprentice success, AD Precision are now seeking to recruit an energetic apprentice to join their friendly team whilst working towards an Engineering Apprenticeship.

Responsibilities
  • Engineering Machinist operating Milling and Turning Machines.
  • Programming and measuring.
  • Quality Control.
  • Learning daily procedures.
  • Full training will be provided.
Personal Qualities
  • Attention to detail.
  • Team player.
  • Hard-working.
  • Use of initiative.
Qualifications
  • GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills) if not previously achieved.
Apprenticeship Standard
  • Engineering Operative Level 2 Standard.
  • 24-month apprenticeship.
  • Weekly attendance at CECAMM as part of the apprenticeship.
  • There is a requirement to complete off the job training, college attendance will contribute but time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted.
Working Week
  • 37.5 hours per week.
Wage
  • Dependent on candidate skills.
Additional information

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £7.55 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified and dependant on company needs at the time, there may be a permanent position available for the successful candidate.
