Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager, you will be a key leader within our multidisciplinary team, overseeing the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems and components related to commercial kitchen equipment. You will guide a team of engineers through every phase of the project lifecycle from initial concept development to prototyping, testing, and final implementation. Your leadership will ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high technical accuracy.

The ideal candidate will blend strong technical knowledge in mechanical systems, heat transfer, gas combustion, and electrical heating systems with robust project management skills. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence while managing team performance, timelines, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a dynamic role that requires both hands-on technical involvement and the ability to lead, motivate, and support a team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages the work associated with mechanical engineering functions of an organization.
  • Oversees the research, design, testing, and production of mechanical products and systems.
  • Maintains resources and ensures cost containment to meet budget guidelines.
  • Directs project development and delegates assignments to subordinate employees.
  • Coordinates with engineering departments on special projects, evaluates performance, and inspects equipment.
  • Provides insight on department performance needs and project status to department heads.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles.
  • Performs complex tasks typically following established processes.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions.
  • Understanding of heat transfer, gas combustion, and basic electrical heating systems.
  • Working with technologies of heat transfer and gas combustion with a strong understanding of the underlying principles and application involved.
  • Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures but may have some impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and perform analysis to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical designs.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of engineering experience, with at least 2-4 years in a leadership or project management role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership skills, ability to foster teamwork.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, analysis, and prototyping, preferably in a manufacturing setting with sheet metal.
  • Oral and written communication skills and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and drafting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to practical challenges.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of related heat transfer and gas combustion.
  • Travel will be required for this position.
  • Manufacturing experience.

Physical requirements

  1. Must be able to bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.
  2. Must be able to lift 50lbs using correct ergonomic posture.
