📍 Swindon, UK | Major Infrastructure & Construction Projects

💰 Salary : £85,000–£110,000 + £6,000 car allowance

Shape the engineering behind some of the UK’s most complex infrastructure projects.

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead technical services across major bids and live projects across the UK, working at the intersection of design, construction, innovation, and delivery.

This is a senior role for a Chartered Engineer who enjoys influencing outcomes, leading multi‑disciplinary teams, and driving value through smart engineering solutions.

What you’ll be doing

As Engineering Manager, you’ll provide leadership and assurance across both work‑winning and project delivery, ensuring engineering solutions are safe, compliant, innovative, and commercially robust.

You will :
  • Lead the engineering function across your allocated sector or projects
  • Provide engineering assurance from design through construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Influence tenders and bids, identifying technical risk and driving mitigation strategies
  • Champion value engineering, alternative designs, and modern construction methods
  • Line manage and mentor Design Managers and engineering teams
  • Promote best practice in temporary and permanent works
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to Project Directors, clients, and supply‑chain partners
  • Support the recruitment, development, and retention of high‑performing engineers
What we’re looking for

Essential :

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent
  • Significant experience across both design and construction
  • Proven background in major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
  • Strong leadership experience managing engineering and design teams
  • Sound understanding of engineering assurance, standards, and compliance
  • Ability to deputise for the Project Manager when required
  • Knowledge of Principal Designer duties (including ERIC on relevant projects)

Desirable :

  • Experience on rail / Network Rail or similarly regulated environments
  • Background in temporary works coordination
  • Track record of innovation and value engineering
