Job description

Design the Infrastructure that Moves Communities Forward
At DEA, we don't just design bridges-we design connections. From regional transit corridors to iconic structures, our work supports safer, more efficient transportation systems across the West. We're seeking a Bridges and Structures Engineering Designer to join our Denver office and help deliver impactful, innovative, and resilient infrastructure.

In this role, you'll be an integral part of our Bridge and Structures team, performing structural analysis and producing design calculations for a wide variety of transportation and transit-related projects. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed construction documents, reports, and specifications for everything from highway bridges to retaining walls and noise barriers.

What You'll Do

  • Perform structural analysis and design of concrete and steel bridges, retaining walls, noise walls, and other structural elements using AASHTO and applicable state DOT standards.
  • Collaborate on bridge concept reports, structure selection reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Develop construction documents, including structural plans, details, and specifications.
  • Create cost estimates and calculate quantities for bidding and budgeting purposes.
  • Prepare bridge load ratings and participate in rehabilitation and maintenance assessments.
  • Support construction phase services by reviewing submittals and responding to contractor RFIs.
  • Coordinate closely with roadway, traffic, and hydraulics teams to ensure smooth integration of structural components into overall project designs.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Minimum 2+ years of bridge design experience
  • Familiarity with AASHTO and DOT design standards
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Experience with CAD platforms such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D
  • Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or in active pursuit
  • Experience with structural design software such as CSiBridge, SAP2000, Midas, PGSuper, or LEAP Concrete
  • Experience with Bridge Load Ratings, including AASHTOWare BrR software
  • Familiarity with CDOT or other public agency bridge design standards
