Job summary

A government facility service provider in Sheerness is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Swaleside. Job description
Mechanical Engineer

Location: HMP Swaleside

Salary: £43,177.30 per annum

Contract: Full-Time, Perm (39hrs)

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Swaleside, a Category B male prison. The Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to driving the smooth and safe operation of the facility, working closely with plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners and administrators to create a safe and nurturing environment for prisoners, staff and visitors.

As a Mechanical Engineer you will work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues to maintain and improve the prison’s mechanical and plumbing systems, helping to promote rehabilitation and positive change.

Qualifications
  • Two years’ experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella (L8) requirements
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems
  • Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge
  • Excellent organisational, time‑management and people skills
