Who are we looking for?

Reporting to the Manager, IP Engineering, the Engineer role encompasses both Grad and mid‑level experienced Network Engineers with a solid background in the design, testing and operational support of standard service provider and optical network technologies and architectures.

What will you be doing day‑to‑day?
  • Engineers are an intrinsic part of Design/Build/Run Teams, dynamically formed to support the complete project and service lifecycle across engineering and operational network, security and network management programs.
  • Supporting the network strategy, Engineers will help deliver against the technical and business goals of a project, including requirements gathering, proof of concept work, testing (automation), high level/low level design, scheduling, and deployment of solutions via Automation and Orchestration (CI/CD pipeline) or Manual change.
  • Engineers are required to facilitate and support continual engineering/operational demands and requirements, supporting Leads during incident management, fault analysis, diagnostics and remediation.
  • Alongside project activity, Engineers will support the technical and communication interface between Leads, Architects, and project stakeholders across the business, keeping abreast of high‑level changes, risks, and progress.
  • Engineers are required to provide a technical presence on MSO bridge calls, participate in a 24/7 call‑out rota and provide BAU and out‑of‑hours support across project/solution deployment and change activity.
  • Support, implement and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans, reviewing and updating regularly to ensure they stay effective.
  • As part of daily checks and in coordination with the TOC, review data from network monitoring and alerting platforms to identify, elevate, and help resolve indicators of network performance and capacity issues.
What you’ll need:
  • Has completed a technology graduate scheme/program.
  • A strong networking background encompassing design and operational support of IP, Security and OTN technologies across Service Provider, Access, Data Centre/Cloud and Management Architectures.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good understanding of IP, TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, MPLS, and OTN Technologies and protocols.
  • Experience and proficiency with network, alert and inventory/asset management tools like Netbox, NetPicker, SolarWinds, Wireshark, Grafana, Big Panda or similar.
  • Automation experience across frameworks, libraries and orchestration tools using Python, Terraform, Ansible, PyTest, Jenkins, GitLab etc.
  • Certifications such as Cisco's CCNA/CCNP, Juniper's JNCIA/JNCIP, or equivalent.
What do we offer you?
  • At Gamma, we believe in work‑life balance, which is why we offer 25 days of annual leave, plus an extra day off for your birthday. Giving back is important to us, so we also provide a volunteer day to support a charity that matters to you.
  • Family matters, too. With enhanced maternity and paternity pay, we’re here to support you as a parent and help you thrive in your career.
  • We offer a contributory pension plan to help you save for the years ahead, with Gamma’s contribution varying dependant on yours.
  • Your well‑being is our priority. We offer group income protection and life assurance (four times your salary) to ensure peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
  • We want you to share in our success. That’s why we offer tax‑efficient share save and share incentive plans, giving you the opportunity to benefit from Gamma’s growth.
  • We’re committed to health, both physical and mental, and provide private medical insurance through Vitality, which extends to your immediate family.
