The role

As an Energy Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a role where your expertise will make a tangible difference to national defence and environmental sustainability, while advancing your career in a dynamic and forward‑thinking organisation.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll lead strategic initiatives to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions across one of the UK’s most complex industrial sites. You’ll develop and deliver utility management strategies, support compliance with the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), and help us achieve our ambitious net zero by 2030 target.

  • Managing site‑wide utility management software and monitoring consumption data.
  • Developing business cases and strategies for carbon reduction and energy efficiency.
  • Leading metering strategy and utility bill verification exercises.
  • Creating and communicating the site‑wide carbon baseline and modelling future consumption.
  • Ensuring compliance with UK ETS and providing input into key performance reporting.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week, and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience for the Energy Manager
  • Strong understanding of energy legislation and government policy.
  • Experience in finance and business case development.
  • Background in legal compliance and utility management.
Qualifications for the Energy Manager
  • Full Member of the Energy Institute (MEI).
  • Chartered Energy Manager or working towards chartership.
  • Equivalent Level 6 qualification in utility management.
