A local government organization in the United Kingdom seeks a dedicated Attendance Team Assistant to support young learners in maintaining consistent attendance. This role involves tracking attendance, engaging with families, and implementing support strategies for students facing barriers. The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need. We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities. We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people. Our work‑based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas: Nursery Workers, Teaching Assistants, Leadership/Management, and Customer Care. We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop. Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need. This role is FTC until 31st August 2026. The Attendance Team Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting learners aged 16–24 to engage consistently in their education. This role involves daily monitoring of attendance, identifying barriers to engagement, and working closely with learners, parents/carers, and staff to promote positive attendance habits. It is a demanding yet highly rewarding position, especially as progress becomes visible over time.
We are seeking a motivated, approachable, and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting young people aged 16–24 to re‑engage with education. The ideal candidate will be resilient, organised, and committed to making a positive difference in learners’ lives.
